Gérard Bertrand is a superstar winemaker, producing an impressive array of sustainable wines in France’s Languedoc-Rousillon. He was named Master Winemaker of the Year in The Drinks Business Magazine’s The Master Winemaker 100 (2023), which celebrates the very best of the wine world. Banylus is made in a similar way to tawny port. Lush and broad, it has plenty of structure and lovely flavours of sandalwood, spice, dried cherry, fig and a hint of caramel.
